Earlier in this term, I feel as though I made more major changes to my work, since I was not as experienced a writer as I am now. My first drafts were more of a work in progress then my most recent first draft, so there are not as many large-scale changes to make later in the semester. I did, however, work more on revision as a whole and understand the process more later in the semester after revising a couple essays. I did a lot more global revision throughout my essays later in the semester, working on paragraph structure a lot, specifically the Barclay’s formula in my body paragraphs. For my local revision on project 3, I really refined my thesis. In my first draft, I only had a short introduction paragraph and a few sections of quotes I wanted to use, but there was no writing around them. In the intro paragraph, the last sentence of it was “I agree with these writers: technology can be so incredible, but it can also be used badly in the wrong hands.” In my final paper 3, the last few sentences were “I agree with these writers in that technology has many different sides. Technology can be so incredible, but it can also be used badly if directed to. Technology’s dependence on whether it is a tool or a danger relies on the person using it.” I was much happier with my thesis in my final draft compared to the first one I had. I felt as though it was too broad. Once I started writing the body paragraphs, I got an idea of the specifics I could put into my thesis. My thesis was always something that I was never very confident in forming. Now, at the end of the semester, I can say that I am not scared of revising and changing my thesis because I have seen how it has improved.
